A “major incident” involving a large group of people shooting fireworks at police and firefighters occurred near the Taft Homes just before 10 p.m. Sunday, about the same time the fireworks show on the riverfront was ending.

Police had to briefly shut down Adams and Eaton streets, near Taft, as they dispersed the large crowds.

No officers or firefighters were injured, dispatchers said on the radio.

At one point, police were ordered to tell those in the crowd to go into their apartments, leave or be arrested for unlawful assembly.

Comments-No one should be surprised. I’n 2009, a similar mob took place with an estimated 300+ blacks rioting. https://blackpeoria.wordpress.com/2009/07/08/peoria-niggers-riot-at-4th-of-july-fireworks-demonstration-at-the-riverfront/ A reoccurring theme in Peoria, and there is still silence on the issue. PEORIA —

Police used pepper balls to disperse a large July 4 brawl in Taft Homes.

According to a police report, officers responded to the large field in the center of the complex about 11 p.m. Saturday. About 300 people had congregated, with large groups of those people fighting.

Police fired five pepper balls and the crowd dispersed, the report said. Police said no one was injured and no arrests were made.

In the Summer of 2008, four of these giant Nigger riots broke out. Like always the media, the police, and the politician’s basically black the entire incident out. The HOI fair is coming up soon, and I would not be surprised if a riot doesn’t break out there like one did in 2008. These are the savage animals that are murdering, raping, shooting, stealing, and committing the majority of the crime in Peoria. It is these savage Nigger beasts that make the streets unsafe to walk on at night. It’s not white folk. It’s only going to continue to get worse. The Illinois National Socialist Front knows the score, and we know the solution. In the video below last year, when some of the INSF members were affiliated with the now defunct ANSWP, we took a stand against the nigger crime as you can see in the video below. We are not afraid to speak the truth, and white man you shouldn’t be either. Join us today, and begin the struggle for your race and nation.

PEORIA —

While police were processing the scene of an officer-involved shooting, someone fired at the officers.

About 2:15 a.m. Monday, as police were processing the scene where Demarcus C. Riddle, 31, of 1710 Laramie St. was shot by an officer, they were shot at several times by an unknown person.

None of the officers were struck. Shell casings were recovered, but no one saw the shooter, Lt. Vince Wieland said Tuesday.

Riddle still was listed in critical condition Tuesday night.

Riddle was shot by officer Jacob C. Faw, 33, about 1 a.m. Monday after Riddle allegedly pointed a gun at the officer near 935 S. Greenlawn Ave.

Police arrived at 935 Greenlawn for the original call about 1 a.m. Monday after receiving a report of a man armed with a gun.

Upon arrival, witnesses pointed out the suspect, later identified as Riddle, to police. Riddle then fled the scene. Faw followed on foot.

Once the two reached the back of the house, Riddle turned his gun on Faw, which led to Faw firing one shot into Riddle’s torso, according to police. Police sources said the bullet hit Riddle’s spine and kidney.

Immediately after the shooting, Riddle was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.

Although he still was listed in critical condition Tuesday, Wieland said his condition had improved.

Riddle had not been arrested or charged by Tuesday, but Wieland said he would be arrested, likely on several charges.

State’s Attorney Kevin Lyons said he could not comment on the shooting, as his office hadn’t received written reports from the police.

Faw remains on paid critical incident leave, which is the department’s policy after any stressful or deadly situation, until further notice, Wieland said. Faw is a four-year veteran of the Police Department. He also served on the Peoria Heights Police Department for nearly five years before that.

Riddle also was arrested in January 2004 for possessing between 2.5 and 10 grams of marijuana with intent to deliver, according to Journal Star archives.

The last officer-involved shooting was April 22, after Shalimar K. Berry shot a carjacking victim in the knee and turned the gun on police. Officers fired three shots at Berry but did not hit her.

The last fatal officer-involved shooting was in November of last year. In that incident, Demetric Mobley fired several shots at a squad car while the officer was on patrol in the Trewyn Park area. Mobley shot at other officers arriving on the scene several times, which led police to shoot at Mobley three times, hitting him twice and killing him.

13-year-old Negro indicted in South Side Bank robbery

PEORIA —

A 13-year-old boy was indicted Tuesday by a Peoria County grand jury for allegedly robbing a South Side Bank branch last month at gunpoint.

Deonte Moore of 2815 W. Starr St. faces a single count of armed robbery for the April 13 heist at the bank’s 2119 SW Adams St. branch. Within 30 minutes, the boy was found in a garage behind a house in the 900 block of South Louisa Street and arrested.

His clothes had been splattered with ink from a dye pack placed in a bag of money taken from the bank.

He remained in the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center on $300,000 bond.

State law allows a juvenile to be tried as an adult if he or she is older than 13 and a judge finds “it is not in the best interest of the public” for the youth to remain in the juvenile courts.

This means a sentence of at least 21 years and possibly up to 45 years in prison, given that a handgun was used, if the youth is convicted. Staying in the juvenile system would have sealed the case to the public, and any imprisonment would have ended at Moore’s 21st birthday.

His arraignment is scheduled for Thursday.

PEORIA —

Police still are investigating the armed robbery of a local restaurant.

At about 8:40 p.m. Monday, two men armed with guns robbed the Spotted Cow at 718 W. Glen Ave. and escaped on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

A description of the robbers was not available from police Monday night.

No one in the restaurant was injured. Police have not made any arrests.

PEORIA —

For the second time in about as many weeks, masked gunmen robbed a Central Peoria gas station.

About 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, two males entered Circle K, 2416 N. University St., and demanded money from the clerk.

One of the males, armed with two guns, ordered a lone customer to lie face down on the floor while he yanked the victim’s wallet out of his pocket, reports stated. The other robber, also armed, turned his attention on the clerk, stealing an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.

Witnesses reported seeing the men run south on University toward MacQueen Avenue after the robbery.

On Jan. 26, three men robbed the same gas station, pilfering cigarettes and taking money from the safe.

That crime, like Tuesday’s, remains unsolved and comes on the heels of more than two dozen similar robberies plaguing the city since the end of December.

Peoria Robberies

PEORIA —

The hold-up of yet another business in Peoria on Monday night has some working in retail wondering if the crime spree will soon come to an end.

The armed robbery to Big Lots, 3013 N. Sterling Ave., about 8:20 p.m. by a man with a knife is the latest in a wave of heists plaguing the city.

No injuries were reported, though the robber poked an employee in the back with the knife until the cash register was emptied.

From bakeries and bars to video and convenience stores, it seems no business is safe. In January, there were 22 armed robberies, two to four a day in some instances.

“I don’t know what is going on. It seems like every day there’s another one. It’s crazy,” said a manager at of one of the two Butternut Bread thrift stores in Peoria. “You work in retail and you always have a chance of getting robbed. Police need to do something.”

Police have beefed up patrols but with so many robberies and very few leads, it’s difficult to know if one or more people or groups are responsible.

“It could be the same two people every time,” Peoria police spokesman Doug Burgess said. “But until we can pin it down, we’re not going to know for sure.”

Police thought they had put a stop to the robberies with the arrests of two teens last week after a botched purse snatching outside the Circle K gas station on Knoxville Avenue. One of the alleged robbers, Christopher Young, 18, of Peoria was arrested a second time over the weekend for the Jan. 10 armed robbery of two patrons of the Elbo Room, 631 W. Main St.

But even with those arrests, the robberies continue to occur.

“They’re hitting whoever,” said the Butternut manager, not wanting to give her name. “It’s a nervous situation.”

Because their stores have been held up three times since Dec. 29, bakery management has allowed the thrift stores to close an hour earlier, at 5 p.m. The businesses also are installing an upgraded security system.

“Hopefully that will help,” said the manager. “We don’t know what else to do to stay safe.”

Peoria is not alone in struggling to solve the cases.

Three of the robberies have occurred just outside city limits in Peoria County. In less than a week, Family Video, 3218 W. Harman Highway, was robbed twice, along with the U.S. Cellular store across the street.

“We are in communication with Peoria, comparing notes and working together to resolve this string of robberies,” said Peoria County Sheriff’s Capt. Dave Briggs. “We know from descriptions it’s not always the same people.”

Police have described the robbers as black men in their mid-teens to mid-20s. They range in height from 5 feet, 4 inches tall to 6 feet, 1 inch tall with medium builds. They wear dark clothing, gloves and sometimes black ski masks.

Some of the robberies may be linked because of the mannerisms of the suspects, but police have declined to elaborate on the suspects’ behavior because of the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information about the robbers or armed robberies can call CrimeStoppers anonymously at 673-9000 or the Peoria Police Department at 673-4521.

PEORIA —

Two armed men robbed the Family Video store at 3615 Wisconsin Ave. on Thursday, making the store the second in the chain to be robbed this week.

Police said the men entered the store around 10 p.m., when there were two employees and one customer in the store.

Police said both suspects were black. One was described as about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. He held one silver pistol in his hand. The other was about 6 feet tall and weighed 190 pounds. He held a silver pistol in each hand. Witnesses told police the guns looked fake.

The shorter suspect took an undisclosed amount of money from three cash drawers, while the other pointed his weapons at the people in the store.

The robbers then fled out the store and into an alley.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Monday, two masked gunmen robbed the Family Video at 218 W. Harman Highway, across the street from Madison Park Shopping Center.

One ordered two customers and an employee to face a wall of videos, while the second screamed at another employee to empty the cash register of an undisclosed amount of money.

The gunmen then fled in a late 1990s blue Dodge Neon or Plymouth model, police said.

Three days earlier, a man robbed the U.S. Cellular store, 3211 W. Harman Highway, of $400 after threatening the clerk at closing time. No weapon was displayed.

Police said they do not yet know if the cases are connected. No arrests have been made.
